More than one billion homes will enjoy digital television in 2014
While many countries have completed their digital transitions, according to a study by Strategy Analytics, there is still plenty of room for digital TV growth around the world.
According to a study by Strategy Analytics, next year more than one billion homes will enjoy digital television in the world. This represents a significant increase compared to the end of 2012 when digital cable, satellite, IPTV and terrestrial (DTT) households totaled 755 million.
The six-year compound CAGR growth rate will be 10.7%, with cable being the main distribution platform.
Although many cable operators are experiencing a certain stagnation, according to Strategy Analytics, they will continue to grow in terms of number of subscribers. In satellite, it will also continue to grow both in pay TV and free to air.
