IPTV will reach one hundred million homes in 2017
According to a study by SNL Kagan, four years from now, IPTV would have an 11.5% market share with revenues that would exceed $41.2 billion.
In the next five years, the growth of IPTV in the 80 main world economies will be 9.1% year-on-year, according to the estimate provided by the consulting firm SNL Kagan.
In this way, 100.5 million subscriptions would be reached in 2017, which would represent an 11.5% market share in pay-TV. In economic terms, income would increase by a greater percentage (13.9%), exceeding 41.2 billion dollars.
At the end of 2012, SNML Kagan estimates that there were already 65 million homes that had some device connected via IP to a content distribution platform. This would represent 9.3% of the pay television market, with a turnover of about 21.9 billion dollars.
El 76% de los suscriptores a servicios IPTV se encuentran en Asia (40%) y Europa Occidental (35,8%), como regiones como mayor penetración. China, con 12,6 millones de suscriptores se ha convertido en uno de los mercados más atractivos para el desarrollo de la IPTV.
En el otro extremo, encontramos Norteamérica (16,6%), Europa oriental (6,3%), Latinoamérica (0,7%) y Oriente Medio (0,5%).
