Odeon & UCI Cinemas elige Dolby Atmos para pantallas iSens de toda Europa

The new facilities will double the number of Dolby Atmos-enabled cinemas in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Dolby Laboratories ha anunciado este lunes en CineEurope 2013 que el grupo Odeon & UCI Cinemas, propietario de la mayor cadena de cines de Europa, tiene previsto instalar la tecnología Dolby Atmos en 27 pantallas de cine de toda Europa.

This group, owner of the Cinesa cinemas, plans to equip 27 of its iSens screens (its flagship product) with Dolby Atmos in Spain, Austria, Germany, Ireland, Italy and the United Kingdom.

This revolutionary new sound format has been very well received by major studios, directors and exhibitors around the world. More than 30 cinema screens have already been equipped with Dolby Atmos in 15 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and in the next six months this will reach almost 60 in this region and more than 200 globally.

With Dolby Atmos, directors can place or move sounds anywhere in the theater and even from the ceiling, increasing the realism and impact of each scene and making audiences feel as if they are immersed in the action of the film.

Andreas Spechtler, Vice President of the EMEA region of Dolby Laboratories, acknowledges that “in just six months we have seen how the number of screens with Dolby Atmos around the world has multiplied by five and gone from 40 to 200. In 2013 alone we have announced 27 new titles, including films from France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom and Spain, increasing the number of films using Dolby Atmos to more than 50. More “Viewers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa will be able to enjoy a more engaging and realistic cinema audio experience with Dolby Atmos, which surpasses purely channel-based formats such as 5.1, 7.1 and even 11.1 and puts audiences right in the center of the action.”
