Clipster and Spycerbox will allow the Munich Festival to prepare and validate the material to be projected
In collaboration with the German company ZweiB, Filmfest München will form the DCPs using three Clipster digital mediation workstations as well as a flexible Spycerbox storage solution.
Filmfest München has entrusted the DVS technology of Rohde & Schwarz for the creation of validation of all material that will be screened at the popular Munich International Film Festival from June 28 to July 6.
For this project, in collaboration with the German company TwoB, three Clipster digital mediation workstations have been deployed as well as a flexible Spycerbox storage solution.
The editors of the largest summer festival in Germany will use Clipster to create Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs). ZweiB will use these stations to edit the material and convert those works recorded on HDCAM/HDCAM SR tapes to DCPs. At the same time, Spycerbox will be responsible for storing all the data.
Due to the wide range of formats, Clipster workstations will offer advantages to the festival such as rapid conversion of material and much faster film processing as this solution is capable of preparing DCPs faster than real time. Once this process is completed, the quality and configuration of the DCPs can be checked using the system's DCI validation tool, thus ensuring their adaptation to the DCI standard.
During the festival, the Spucerboxes will be integrated into a NAS or SAN configuration, or a combination of both, into the existing infrastructures already in Munich.
Finally, it should be noted that the DVS Spycer software will allow data management across the different networks in a transparent manner in a very fast workflow since editors will be able to browse the images and metadata throughout the entire network, take a specific material and move it wherever necessary, ready for projection.
