Charlie Vogt will lead, as CEO, a new stage at Harris Broadcast
With more than 25 years of experience in the ICT industry and an expert in IP environments, Vogt joins Harris Broadcast after nine years as president and CEO of Genband where he led a transformation of the company with the purchase of six companies, including Tekelec SSG, NextPoint Networks and Nortel's VoIP division.
Harris Broadcast, currently in the hands of The Gores Group, announced this Tuesday the appointment of Charlie Vogt as the new CEO. With more than 25 years of experience in the ICT industry, Vogt joins Harris Broadcast after nine years as president and CEO of Genband where he led a transformation of the company with the purchase of six companies, including Tekelec SSG, NextPoint Networks and Nortel's VoIP division.
Starting from the highest innovation without forgetting sustainability, attention to operational integration and relentless customer service, Genband managed to position itself as a world leader in VoIP with annual growth rates of approximately 100% during its mandate.
Vogt will succeed Harris Morris, who was named president of Harris Broadcast when it was a subsidiary of Harris Corporation in 2010, leading the company through its divestiture process and transition into the hands of The Gores Group.
“Charlie will bring vision, leadership, creativity and operational discipline, as well as an entrepreneurial, customer-first culture to Harris Broadcast,” said Carl Vogel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Harris Broadcast.
Vogel added that "the radio and television industry has embarked on a significant transformation from digital to IP. Charlie is a natural choice with his knowledge of the IP field and his acquired experience." He also thanked Harris Morris "for his contribution in guiding Harris Broadcast when we acquired the business, and its transformation to a new independent stage. We wish him the best in his new professional opportunities."
Vogt acknowledged being “excited to join Harris Broadcast, especially at a time when broadcasters, cable networks and multichannel content distributors are experiencing so many changes due to the impact of on-demand content delivery on multiple screens and the digital transition in video and audio over IP.”
Vogt added that "through investments in R&D and strategic acquisitions, Harris has created the industry's most comprehensive portfolio of content management technology. The company is well positioned in the broadcast market with unique capabilities, such as combining automation, digital asset management, broadcast, sales and programming in a single solution. These strategic assets constitute the ideal foundation on which we will invest and differentiate."
Before becoming president and CEO of Genband, this graduate in Economics and Computer Science from Saint Louis University was president and CEO of Taqua, an IP switching company, which was acquired by Tekelec in 2004, and held various senior positions at ADTRAN, Ascend Communications, Accelerated Networks and Santera Systems
