Huawei has fully entered the mass storage market for media and entertainment.
Post-production companies such as IMG, Pinewood, Rainsport, Empire Studio or Disney and television stations such as Phoenix TV, Lesotho TV or ERT are already using Huawei solutions.

In the case of IMG, this audiovisual services company with more than 3,000 employees and an international presence, is already producing 90% in HD, so they needed to increase their bandwidth on their NAS storage. To do this, Huawei implemented a NAS storage system with a bandwidth of 800 MB/s. In addition, a unified management system was installed capable of simplifying day-to-day operations such as maintenance.

In the case of Pinewood, the London studios needed to improve the reading and writing speed of their storage as well as improve the efficiency of the space allocated for this purpose.

The solution proposed by Huawei consisted of a NAS cluster with a single speed of up to 900MB/s. Using DSt technologies, data is stored on FC disks and SATA disks. Pinewood's new network offers a 10GE interface that avoids bottlenecks.

As for Disney, this is the first project in which Huawei intervenes with products Isilon, and centralized editing and storage. The workflow at Disney UK required transferring material to secondary storage for online preservation. Two Huawei N8300 nodes with 72 TB capacity have been the solution adopted.

In broadcast environments, the installation carried out at Phoenix Television, based in Hong Kong, stands out. In this case, several N8500 have been installed at its Beijing center that support 6 workstations and 20 non-linear editors, with up to 1 GB/s. At the Hong Kong headquarters, the N8500 supports 20 non-linear editing stations, seven studio recording stations and 150 news workstations. This system has allowed Phoenix TV to interconnect its centers, as well as have a solution for disaster recovery. Unlike traditional storage, the disk array-based system provides a shared pool, easy to maintain and highly efficient.Huawei not Phoenix TV
