Golf Channel installs Telemetrics camera control systems
Telemetrics camera control systems allow the NBC golf channel to save costs and provide greater flexibility to its sets in the United States.
The new Golf Channel studios have integrated the camera control systems of Telemetrics in order to save costs and provide greater flexibility to its sets in the United States.
Ken Botelho, Senior Director of Golf Channel, highlights that "robotic camera control systems allow us to offer industry-leading programming for a fraction of the cost of traditionally produced content and Telemetrics has been the manufacturer chosen for this purpose. Since the robotics have been installed in our own newsroom, we have seen greater efficiency in our productions and more creativity on set. The systems have exceeded both our demand and expectations."
The Golf Channel editorial team has been enabled with four sets. A specially configured system with the combination of ten anchor points on a ceiling track, TeleGlide, an EP5 Televator pedestal and several PT-LP-S4 pan/tilt units has allowed the channel to minimize space requirements while allowing an operator to perform full pans across the different sets. The PT-LP-S4 pan/tilt units are also used with two studio cameras that are used for interview and product demonstration areas, while an HDSC-1 multipurpose camera offers an additional camera position.
Cost efficiency is also increased thanks to the use of a fiber system that allows controlling up to four cameras and their lenses. From the control room, a single operator controls studio operations via an Ethernet connection using the Telemetrics CPS-ST-S studio control system and CP-D3A control panel.
The system uses a graphical user interface for remote control of cameras. A joystick allows adjustment of pan, tilt, zoom, focus, iris and pedestal. For greater flexibility and user convenience, the CPS-ST-S camera system has up to 160 presets, with storyboard image thumbnails and up to 8,000 presets organized by each camera.
Founded in Birmingham, Alabama, now headquartered in Orlando, Florida, Golf Channel is available in the United States, Canada, select nations in Asia and Latin America, reaching more than one hundred million homes.
