Barnfind and Village Island transmit 4K 60p 10bit 4:2:2 signals with zero latency

Barnfind's latest ultra-precise overclocking technology, with zero latency/jitter architecture, enables 4K signals to be sent over a single fiber.

The Norwegian Barnfind and Japan's Village Island have successfully completed a series of tests transmitting 4K 60p 10bit 4:2:2 baseband signals over a single fiber. This has been made possible by using Barnfind's media converter on both sides of the optical connection.

For this experience, the VillageStudio 4K play-out system has been used to generate high-quality 4K content. The signals, through Barnfind's CWDM multiplexing, were sent from one monitor to another without any latency or jitter.

Michael Van Dorpe, CEO of Village Island, has been delighted with the results stating that "while several head-end equipment companies are emphasizing 30p 4K transmission, the world is moving towards 50p/60p and customers are very aware of the compression artifacts and latency that this could produce.
