Pedro Solís gets his second Goya with 'Cuerdas', a 3D animation
With 'La Bruxa', his first film as director and screenwriter, he was already awarded the 2011 Goya Award for Best Animated Short Film.
“When you make a short film you risk winning a Goya.” With these words, Pedro Solís received his second Goya in the category of Best Animated Short for ropes, her second short film, which tells how María's routine at school will be altered by the arrival of a very special child. They will soon become inseparable friends.
This Barcelonan is very satisfied with the route of ropes, which has been presented for a month and a half at various festivals “with a magnificent reception even in competitions in which there is no animation specialty and is winning the audience award.”
"It is a short that is reaching people, that schools are asking me for it, that has been selected at the Stuttgart Festival to also be shown in educational centers. This tells me that the short is right where I wanted it, reaching children, reaching schools and doing educational work," indicated Pedro Solís.
From a technical point of view, the author explained that "it is 3D computer animation in which we have faced challenges such as hair simulation. In my previous short we did not get into these problems but in this one we have done so and we have emerged victorious." The short film has been post-produced in Lightbox.
Pedro Solís comes from the world of video games, in which he has developed different tasks. He has been from 3D artist to co-producer on numerous titles for PC and consoles. He has participated as a 3D artist in animated shorts Tadeo Jones y Tadeo Jones and the Temple of Doom.
