Atresmedia sweeps the Iris Awards
'The Time Between Seams' by Antena 3 and Boomerang has swept the XVI Iris Awards of the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts, winning seven awards.
With a total of 17 awards (eleven for Antena 3 and six for LaSexta), the Atresmedia group was the big winner on the night of the XVI Iris Awards of the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts held last night at the Gran Casino of Aranjuez. And as the Panorama Prize awarded on May 22 to The time between seams, the Antena 3 series has swept the Iris by winning seven awards, including Best Fiction and Best Actress (Adriana Ugarte).
It has also won the awards for Best Direction (Ignacio Mercero, Iñaki Peñafiel and Nomberto L. Amado) and Best Production (Gregorio Quintana, Ángeles Caballero, Emilio Pina and Reyes Baltanás), as well as in the technical categories of Photography and Lighting (Juan Molina Temboury), Art and Scenography (Luis Vallés and Bida Daigeler) and Music (César Benito).
This production based on the novel by María Dueñas thus managed to prevail Isabel (TVE) that despite starting with the same number of nominations, only achieved one award, granted to Rodolfo Sancho, who took the Iris from Maecus Logan and Mariano Peña.
During the gala, presented by Jaime Cantizano and Adriana Abenia, the awards for Atresmedia fell one after another: Public Mirror as Best Current Affairs Program (which competed with two other programs of the group such as Red Hot y The Objective from LaSexta); Matías Prats as Best News Presenter, ahead of Pedro Piqueras and Helena Resano; Alex Miraña as Best Director for The Anthill 3.0, y Your face sounds familiar to me, Iris Award for Best Makeup, Hairstyling and Characterization.
The Intermediate
LaSexta has obtained six awards thanks to The Intermediate, which left with three, Salvados, which has achieved two, and LaSexta Noticas, the midday news program presented by Helena Resano.
The Intermediate won the Best Entertainment Program award (competing with The Voice (Telecinco) and Masterchef (TVE) and Best Script, while its presenter, Gran Wyoming, took the iris for Best Program Presenter.
Another of LaSexta's flagships, Saved won the award for Best Documentary Program for space The Forgotten about the victims of the Valencia Metro in 2006. The alma mater of the space, Jordi Évole, received the award for Best Reporter.
The Academy also wanted to recognize with a special award the work of the reporter Mayte Carrasco for her coverage of the Syrian conflict, and that of Mediaset España for its commitment and development of reality shows. The veteran space also received recognition from academics Know and Win of La 2 in recovery after 17 years on the air and 4,000 broadcast programs.

This year, the Academy wanted to recognize a great television figure with the Iris Lifetime Achievement Award: Mayra Gómez Kemp. "I wasn't even remotely expecting it. The phone rang and I thought about anything except that Manuel Campo Vidal, president of the Academy, was talking to me to tell me that three minutes ago the award jury had met, and they had given it to me. I was left speechless," the presenter acknowledged.
Born in Havana (Cuba) and daughter of two famous Cuban artists, Ramiro Gómez Kemp and Velia Martínez Febles, she began working in film under the stage name Mayra Christine.
In 1970 he arrived in Spain and in 1971 he began working in an advertising agency in Catalonia and in a Radio Barcelona program on Cadena SER, presented by Joaquín Prat. Mayra goes on to work on the Spanish theatrical version of the famous Rocky Horror Picture Show in 1973 playing the role of Magenta. In these performances, she coincides with the Argentine actor Alberto Berco, who served as narrator in the play and who would eventually become her husband.
In 1976 she debuted on television as an actress in the legendary One, two, three... playing sporadic roles. Her first appearance was in the program dedicated to The 1001 Nights where she played a houri of Islam. Despite not being a regular actress, her appearances made her more famous until she left the program in 1977.
That same year he formed the Trío Acuario together with María Durán and Beatriz Escudero, achieving great successes like Rema, rema, sailor. In 1978 he decided to leave the group to start his solo musical career, recording an album titled Una Dama and appearing in the film Donde manda Patrón alongside Manolo Escobar.
In 1978 she began her career as a presenter on the program 625 lines obtaining the Gold TP. Already in the eighties it presented other programs such as Ding-Dong or the Benidorm Festival of 1980. Later, along with other presenters, he headed the children's program Sabadabada, which later changed its name to Tails.
In 1982 Chicho Ibáñez Serrador chose her to present the contest One, two, three... being its host for six consecutive years and receiving three other TP de Oro awards for best presenter. He combined the contest with his work on radio, presenting the program Long live the people on Antena 3 Radio with José Antonio Plaza.
In 1989 Mayra moved to Antena 3 Television to present the first live broadcast on a private television: the chimes from Puerta del Sol to receive 1990, in the test broadcasts of this channel. The network inaugurated its official broadcasts in January after the welcome speech by José María Carrascal, with the program The wheel of fortune presented by Mayra until 1991. From then on he participated in programs such as Ala…Dina!, Flo's Club (LaSexta), 3 bands (Antena 3) and in 2008 she became a regular contributor as a morning talk show host on Aragón TV in the magazine Without going any further.
In 2009 she suffered from tongue cancer for which she had to undergo surgery and from which she fully recovered in 2010. But in 2012 she announced again that she had throat cancer, which she has completely overcome.
In her speech, Mayra thanked her great mentor, Chicho Ibáñez Serrador, who gave her the opportunity to lead One, two, three,… answer again with "the madness of putting a woman in charge of a contest like that, which was not just any one. Half a century of Prado del Rey
During the Iris Awards ceremony, the history of Prado del Rey, the Spanish Television production complex that is now celebrating half a century of life, was remembered at various moments. During the gala, a tribute to the history of television was held with the presence of historical professionals from “la Casa” such as Maruja Callaved, Elena Santonja, Jaime de Armiñán, Laura Valenzuela, Juan Erasmo Mochi, Mari Carmen Izquierdo, Manuel Galiana, Luis Varela, Ana Diosdado, Silvia Tortosa, Ana María Vidal, Miguel de los Santos and Elena Martí, among others.
Finally, it should be noted that the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts awarded the 2013 Special Iris Award for Technology last night to the Spanish company VSN (Video Stream Networks), for its contribution to the development of television in general and, in particular, in Spain.
