Mortadelo and Filemón against Jimmy the Horny

The BigBall Studio has been the winner of the open competition, organized by 3D Wire and Zeta Cinema, for the development of a video game for mobile phones and tablets based on the film Mortadelo and Filemón against Jimmy the Horny, directed by Javier Fesser and produced by Zeta Cinema, which will be released in theaters on November 28, 2014. The film is made entirely of animation in a stereoscopic 3D version. Warner Bros. Pictures Intl. Spain will be responsible for its distribution in Spain.

Under the same title as the film, the winning proposal of the contest is framed within the action and adventure genre in the endless runner + shooter mode. The concept of the video game consists of the pursuit of Jimmy the Horny through an infinite environment, while the protagonists Mortadelo and Filemón overcome numerous obstacles and threats and face various enemies.

To do this, Mortadelo and Filemón will ride in special TIA vehicles and use extravagant weapons designed by Professor Bacterio. The player will be able to evolve both vehicles and weapons, in addition to modifying Mortadelo's clothing and acquiring consumable items, he will also be able to obtain virtual coins to buy vehicles, weapons, suits for Mortadelo, bombs or extra lives, among other objects; collecting them throughout the game, through the score obtained, completing specific missions or rising in rank.

'For us it is an honor as well as a great responsibility to be part of this project. We have all grown up with the Mortadelo and Filemón comics (that's how we are...), and this movie looks great. On the other hand, we are very excited about the possibility of making the Mortadelo y Filemón brand known outside of Spain with something as organic as an App. The initiative of 3D Wire and Grupo Zeta to link the development of the App to a contest aimed at indie developers seems to me to be an exemplary initiative: they give studios with fewer resources a great opportunity that we would otherwise hardly have and the fact that it is a contest bases the selection on objective criteria, instead of hand-picked or “plug-in” awards. I hope more organizations take an example.' Rubén Soriano declared upon learning of the winner.

The BigBall Studio is a brand belonging to Immersive Interactive, dedicated to the development of video games with innovative design, for all types of platforms. Immersive was founded by Rubén Soriano Jiménez at the end of 2009 related to the video game and interactive 3D applications sector. As of 2011, the company intensifies its activity and establishes The BigBall Studio and Digital Dive Studio, the other commercial line of the company in charge of the development of interactive 3D applications such as virtual tours, interactive visualization of 3D products and visual catalogs, augmented reality and gamification.

Rubén Soriano has more than 12 years of experience in the multimedia sector, of which 7 have been in 'AAA' video game development. He has worked for important companies such as Mercury Steam Entertainment, for projects such as Castlevania Lords of Shadow, o Clive Barker´s Jericho. Currently, in addition to being CEO and founder of Immersive Interactive, he is a professor in the Master of 3D and animation in video games at CICE.

In recent years Immersive Interactive has developed the video game WreckMan: Rise of a Hero with more than 170,000 downloads in its first week; and Bye Bye Fears, a children's video game aimed at combating the fears, insecurities and tantrums of children from 3 to 8 years old. The latter has been developed in collaboration with Fluff (creators and manufacturers of stuffed animals) and has been placed in the top 10 of children's applications.

With 3D format, the video game will be available for iOS and Android and will have the support of 3D Wire for its presentation during the sixth edition of the International Animation, Video Games and New Media Market that will take place from October 2 to 5 in Segovia.
