Spielberg will develop a horror series for the new Quibi platform that can only be seen at night
In order to provide content for this platform, which will initially be available in the United States, Quibi has signed a contract with Steven Spielberg for the production of 'Spielberg After Dark'.
Quibi, the startup created by the producer Jeffrey Katzenberg and who was executive president of HP, And Whitman, to develop short content especially for smartphones, will begin its services as a platform in April of next year.
In order to provide content for this platform, which will initially be available in the United States, Quibi has signed a contract with Steven Spielberg for the production of the horror series Spielberg After Dark.
This series will have twelve chapters of just ten minutes long, an ideal format for smartphones, and will have the peculiarity that it can only be viewed at night thanks to the smartphone geolocation.
Spielberg's series will be one of many shows Quibi has announced as part of its launch lineup. There will also be eight “super premium” productions, which are essentially short films. The objective of the platform will be to offer 125 pieces of content per week, both short films and television programs, which would mean 7,000 pieces in the first year.
To launch Quibi, Katzenberg and Whitman have raised more than $1 billion in funding.
