Major innovations to the Avid MediaCentral platform and its associated modular application suites
Avid unveils new platform solutions and services that uniquely and strategically address the challenges of those working in broadcast, professional video and professional audio.
Avid has announced a series of significant product and service innovations that deliver on the next phase of Avid Everywhere, the company's strategic vision for the media and entertainment industry, which focuses on connecting creative professionals and media organizations with their audiences in more powerful, efficient, collaborative and profitable ways. The company introduced innovations for the Avid MediaCentral Platform and its associated modular application suites.
Louis Hernandez, Jr., president and CEO of Avid, admitted at IBC 2014 that "with so much change and pressure overwhelming the media industry, Avid has stepped up to provide the leadership our customers and the entire media community need. The initial phases of the platform and application suites we announced in April as part of Avid Everywhere are now available in the market. Our customers and partners around the world are already benefiting from Avid's more flexible, open and integrated ecosystem. “And now we are announcing the next stage of this journey, with a major initiative of new services and innovations on the MediaCentral Platform that will help our customers and partners position themselves for their continued success, now and in the future.”
Highlighting the importance of growing expectations for service, education and collaboration with customers across the industry, Avid announced “The Avid Advantage,” a major fully inclusive service and delivery initiative. With The Avid Advantage, the company is rolling out a host of expanded and flexible services, support and educational programs to help customers maximize and accelerate the return on their investment with complete flexibility.
Innovations on the MediaCentral platform
Since Avid launched the Avid MediaCentral platform at NAB in April of this year, the company has continued to innovate by deploying new tools and integrations with partners that extend capabilities across news production, media management, graphics, and audio and video production.
Among other innovations of the platform, these stand out:
- Avid Resolution Independence. Avid is introducing a fully seamless architecture for working with materials of any resolution (SD, HD, 4K and higher) on-premise or in the cloud, across the entire workflow.
- Avid Connectivity Toolkit. The next phase of this comprehensive development program for other companies, first announced at NAB 2014, now gives our partners access to the resources, documentation, certification and services they need to create products and solutions that integrate into the Avid MediaCentral Platform ecosystem and then sell them on the Avid Marketplace.
- Innovations for the Artist Suite
– Editing and production expanded to high resolution. The next version of Media Composer | Software will include native 4K editing, allowing editors to easily access, manage, edit, monitor and produce high-resolution footage
– Resolution flexibility. Avid introduces the Avid DNxHR extensible media codec.
– Powerful mixing and editing for live shows. Avid introduces new compact Avid Venue live sound system | S3L-X, which offers unprecedented versatility, reliability and value for stage, studio and other environments
– High-performance portable music creation. Avid presents the new Pro Tools | Duet and Pro Tools | Quartet, which combine Avid Pro Tools | Apogee Hardware Portable Audio Interface Software
- Innovations for the Media Suite
– Expanded content search across multiple systems, with Media | Index for iNews
– Additionally, at IBC 2014, Avid will preview the capabilities that Interplay | MAM will in the future give team members the power and flexibility to access material and work on projects from virtually any device, anywhere.
- -Innovations for the Storage Suite
– Accelerated workflows for broadcast. The new Avid AirSpeed | 5500 helps customers ingest and play multiple content formats without having to invest in expensive converters; and now comes with support for Sony XAVC
