The Babel Cinemas in Valencia have completed the digitalization of their five rooms with projectors Christie Solaria One supplied by Christie partner Ingevideo. This is the first cinema complex in Spain that has been fully digitalized with this Christie projector model, ideal for screens up to nine meters.

The Babel Cinemas were founded in 1997 and specialize in author films in their original versions. Antonio Such, its manager, says that “for about four years we have been seeing the progressive disappearance of 35 millimeter copies, which has become widespread this last year. “This is how the need to digitize our rooms arose and, after evaluating three brands, we opted for Christie since we thought, and this was confirmed by a technician, that it was the best quality.”

Antonio Such (Cines Babel)The company Ingevideo, which was selected by Babel to digitize its rooms, recommended the Christie Solaria One because it was the equipment that met the client's needs based on the characteristics of its rooms. “As our rooms were small in size and our screens were smaller than 10 meters, it was the model that offered us the best need/price option,” recalls Antonio Such.

The truth is that Christie Solaria One projectors have allowed Babel Cinemas to automate their entire room and projection system. “The system is so simple that operation does not require operators, since all the programming and automation of projection and room control is carried out one morning a week from an administration computer and even remotely from any computer located in anywhere with an Internet connection,” says Antonio Such. “This provides a significant increase in productivity for the company with a clear improvement in the image and sound of the projections,” he concludes.

The Christie Solaria One is a DCI-compatible digital cinema projection system equipped with a lens, custom xenon lamp, integrated media block (IMB) system and easy-to-use SMS screen management software. It offers 8000 lumens within the DCI color space, and more than 9000 lumens when presenting alternative content.

Thanks to brilliant xenon lighting and S2K DLP Cinema technology, the Solaria One achieves the highest quality images at the lowest total cost of ownership on the market. “It is a very flexible system that is prepared for 3D and to show high frame rate (HFR) content,” says Miguel Motos, from Ingevideo.

Additionally, for external sources of alternative content, the Christie Solaria One features dual DVI/HDMI inputs configurable for 2D and 3D operation. In fact, Cines Babel is currently preparing a program for next summer that includes alternative content, including concerts, opera and dance.
