It will enable real-time hardware H.264 encoding of HD and 4K workflows.

Matrox M264Coinciding with NAB 2015, Matrox launches M264 encoder card for 4:2:2 H.264 10 bits. As part of the next generation of Matrox DSX development products, this PCIe enables multi-channel H.264 encoding and decoding from a baseband profile to High 10 Intra at level 5.2.

M264 is designed to encode a single 4Kp60 H.264/AVC intraframe 4:2:2 10-bit stream, up to 10 GOP HD streams in 10-bit 4:2:2, or up to 16 HD streams in 8-bit 4:2:0. The card offers very low latency, a dynamic bitrate and GOP control to allow full tuning. Due to its characteristics, it is ideal for broadcasting, contribution and production environments.

Alberto Cieri, director of sales and marketing at Matrox Video, maintains that "the high density, bitrate and quality of H264 encoding of the M264 will offer broadcast OEMs three important benefits: they will be able to better manage both their CPUs and GPUs for other tasks, minimize consumption and save space in the racks. When joined with other SDKs and I/O cards such as the new X.mio3, the M264 offers users a hybrid solution with support for baseband and IP all-in-one.”

Matrox M264 is the ideal hardware H.264 encoding engine for OEMs who need to add advanced IP streaming capabilities to channel-in-a-box systems, video servers, broadcast graphics systems, multiviewers and matrices with high encoding and transcoding density. Comprehensive Matrox DSX development tools for Windows or Linux include versatile file reading and writing, memory management, IP streaming, synchronization mechanisms, and a large selection of software codecs and effects.
