Streambox demonstrates 4K 60fps video transport and encoders for drones

During NAB 2015, Streambox has also shown its Avenir Micro and Drone Encoder Pro encoders and links, designed for mounting on board drones.

Streambox surprised the market with the demonstration at NAB 2015 of its real-time 4K encoding and transmission technology at 60 fps. The new Streambox 4K Rackmount Encoder allows you to distribute live UHD using reduced bandwidth, thus simplifying the workflow for streaming, broadcasting, postproduction and live events.

The new 4K 60P/50P Rackmount Encoder works in conjunction with Streambox Cloud to transport live 4K video over the Internet both point-to-point and point-multipoint. All video released to the Streambox Cloud is archived for file-based playout with the 4K Rackmount Decoder, Streambox Media Player, or downloaded and archived for production.

The Streambox ACT-L3 4K encodes based on an adaptive bitrate at resolutions of 3840x2160 UHD at 60,50,23.98,24 and 30 fps or 4096x2160 4K Cinema DCI 23.98, 24, 29.97, compressing from 4 to 50Mbps in real time. ACT-L3 software is designed for multi-core encoding using all available CPU capacity.

The Streambox 4K 60P encoder is equipped with single and dual link 12G-SDI, compatible with 6G-SDI and 3G SDI. The encoder also features HDMI and fiber optical links, AES XLR or analog audio. Streambox 4K 60P Encoder can be used as a high-performance decoder with 12G/6G/3G-SDI, HDMI or fiber optic output.

Notably, for a simplified workflow, this Streambox solution allows you to capture 4K footage directly from the Blackmagic 4K Production Camera via Thunderbolt with a simple Macbook Pro laptop and Streambox ACT-L3 4K encoding software.

On the other hand, Streambox has shown the new Drone Encoder Pro and the Avenir Micro at NAB. These are two modular solutions of small dimensions and very light.

The Avenir Micro allows you to capture SD and HD and distribute over 3G/4G, Wi-Fi and IP networks with Streambox Cloud Services for live broadcast or streaming to web and mobile services.

As for the Streambox Drone Encoder Pro, it is an extremely light version of the previous one (just 220 grams) for use in drones and UAVs.
