Teradek Prism Mobile 5G Mk II

Aimed at news environments or for all types of remote productions, the family of 4K HEVC Prism video encoders from Teradek (To be seen) sets its sights on the new needs of the industry through Prism Mobile 5G and Prism Mobile Mk II.

Both solutions have two integrated high-performance mobile modems (LTE for Mk II) compatible with private mobile networks / CBRS, two SIM slots and an external connection to expand the modem (in addition to 1 node modem). Its low SWaP (size, weight and power) industrial design weighs 864g with Gold or V-mount battery plates, making it ideal for event coverage where mobility is a top priority. Like the Prism Flex models, the Prism Mobile range is deeply integrated with several camera-to-cloud platforms, such as Frame.io, AVID, Sony C3P, Sony Ci, PIX and Moxion.

Teradek Prism Mobile 5G Mk IIAnother relevant key to the two Prism Mobile models is the debut of the Teradek Reliable Transport (TRT) protocol, aimed at workflows in linked mobile networks. This transport protocol, defined by Teradek as “ultra-robust and ultra-low latency,” provides audio and video over linked mobile networks in just 250 ms. Using path measurement, TRT dynamically adjusts stream buffer size and error correction to optimize packet delays in different network environments.

Mike Gailing, vice president and general manager of live production at Teradek, believes that both products “reaffirm the brand's commitment to offering” cutting-edge video contribution solutions without compromising size, weight or energy efficiency. “By investing in and continually improving Prism's strong capabilities, we are propelling this family of products to the forefront of streaming technology. “We have exciting plans ahead as we strive to empower broadcasters to meet the ever-evolving demands of their audiences,” he noted.
