Sky News will cover the general elections in the United Kingdom with LiveU

The British broadcaster announces an “ambitious and wide-ranging” plan for general election coverage with LiveU as a key technology partner.

Sky News has chosen LiveU as a key technological partner for coverage of the general elections in the United Kingdom, which will be held on May 7. The deal has been overseen by LiveU's UK partner, Garland Partners.

The British broadcaster has described its upcoming coverage as the most ambitious service carried out to bring the results available to the public with the most up-to-date information possible in real time. To this end, in addition to using Live's mobile links, it will launch a special Sky News studio in Osterley.”

On May 7, Sky News will broadcast live more than 270 statements by relevant politicians. The Sky News team will broadcast from the headquarters of major political groups and polling stations across the UK.

Sky News will use multiple units from across the LiveU range, including the small LU200, as well as the lightweight LU500 backpacks. All LiveU units will be managed and controlled by LiveU Central, the cloud-based unified management platform, which allows Sky to manage the entire fleet of units remotely with geolocation capability.

LiveU cellular link technology is changing the way in which networks cover election days, as was already evident last year in the elections in India or more recently in Greece.
