Earpro and ASAGE present the advantages of the Dante protocol
The Galician Association of Event Services (AGASE), together with Earpro and Producciones EMSAC, organized a meeting in Santiago de Compostela focused on the Dante digital protocol.
Taught by members of the Earpro engineering team, a seminar regarding the Dante digital protocol took place on stage 1 of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Santiago de Compostela on April 8.
The course, organized by the Galician event services association (AGASE) and promoted by Producciones EMSAC, took place in two sessions. The morning session included the participation of audiovisual rental companies belonging to the association, while the afternoon session brought together part of the faculty's students.
The sessions started with a theoretical part, in which various digital communication protocols were explained, finally focusing on Dante.
The second part was eminently practical and, to be carried out, it had an assembly based on Dante-compatible equipment. The purpose of this setup was to perform intercom testing between Dante and several different pieces of equipment: a Soundcraft Si Expression II console, a Shure SCM820 automatic mixer, Shure Microflex wireless microphones, and an Ethernet router. Regarding the software, the Dante Controller program (free download here) from the Audinate brand was used, installed on a PC.
This second part of the course began with the necessary training for the configuration of the router and the different equipment and their correct connection. Next, several recreations of practical cases were carried out, in which Dante connectivity and the corresponding management from a PC represent a solution of maximum usefulness and reliability.
