The city of Granada welcomes Carlos' team these days, Emperor King, the new historical fiction from Spanish Television in collaboration with Diagonal TV.

Once again the Alhambra has opened its doors to host the filming of a TVE series, just as it did with Isabel.

The Qubba and several scenes in the city are also other locations for this recording to which a dozen actors from historical fiction have traveled, including its protagonists, Álvaro Cervantes and Blanca Suárez.

It is a luxury that has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the Board of Trustees of the Alhambra and Generalife and the Granada City Council. Furthermore, on the occasion of the filming of Carlos, the Alhambra will open some spaces to the public these days, until now closed for conservation reasons, such as the Emperor's Rooms and the Torre de la Cautiva.

José Ramón Díez, director of TVE, is convinced that it is a beneficial collaboration for everyone: "A series is a good thing for the network and for the cities in which it is filmed. Granada will be seen in Spain and around the world, with our international channels." And it has resolved the doubt that most worries fans of the story on TVE: “If everything goes well, Carlos will premiere there in September.”

In addition, he announced that we are already working "on a film that weaves together the two stories that will arrive at the end of the year. And we are also already talking about Felipe II."

For Oriol Ferrer, director of the series, he has defined the filming in Granada as a gift since "we couldn't have better sets. We are very happy because what we are telling happened here. A true love story. It was a pact, like all royal marriages, but there was love and that is how we want to tell it. We will show, for example, the burial of Isabel of Portugal here in Granada, where Carlos was not there because he could not handle his soul and locked himself in a monastery."
