Therón is at the helm of this comedy after directing It's for your good, the third highest-grossing Spanish film of 2017, and I leave it whenever I want, the highest grossing film so far this year in Spanish cinema after leading the box office in its first two weekends.

The guion has been written by Josep Gatell and Manuel Burque (It's for your good), from the Italian film Song is Napule. Directed by brothers Antonio and Marco Manetti, it was the breakthrough film in Italy in 2013 after winning three Donatello awards.

The film introduces Sebas, a rookie cop who goes undercover as a keyboard player in Los Lolos, a tacky flamenco-trap band that's going to play at the wedding of a local drug dealer's daughter. The original songs will be performed by Riki Rivera, winner of the Goya for Best Original Song in 2015 for The Child.

It has a first-class production team, including Art Director Clara Notari (Pain and Glory, Wild Tales), director of photography Sergi Gallardo (The Olive Tree, ThiMai, Heading to Vietnam), Production Director Manuela Ocón (The Plague, The Minimum Island) and the editor Carolina Martínez Urbina (Regression, Agora).

Operation Shrimp is produced by Telecinco Cinema, La Pepa y la Pepa, Lazona Films and Quexito Films as associated producers and the participation of Mediaset España and Movistar+. The film, scheduled for theatrical release in spring 2020, will be distributed by Buena Vista International.
