Kenya Television Network covers Obama's visit with Quicklink Backpack and Quicklink Skype TX
To capture Obama's visit to Nairobi to attend the Global Entrepreneur Summit, KTN provided four Quicklink cellular backpacks.
Kenya Television Network (KTN) covered President Barack Omaba's visit to the African country last weekend. As part of this coverage, Kenyan television used the solutions Quicklink Backpack and Quicklink Skype TX to send the signal from ENG teams that followed Obama's movements in Nairobi to attend the Global Entrepreneurs Summit.
This was Obama's fourth visit to Africa, but his first to Kenya, his father's birthplace, since taking office in 2009.
To capture the live event KTN used four Quicklink cellular link backpacks. On the other hand, Indigo Telecom installed Quicklink Skype TX at KTN's main studio in Nairobi.
Collins M'mudi, director of systems at KTN, acknowledges that the Quicklink cellular link dongles, which they have been using since their launch, "can be easily deployed and the bandwidth achieved by joining 8 cellular connections under one stable platform guarantees a reliable live video transmission. This is a very efficient and cost-effective way to receive good quality live content."
On the other hand, Quicklink Technical Sales Manager, Lucas Griffiths, highlights that "KTN has always been able to produce quality live broadcasts thanks to the use of our technology. The Quicklink dongle is the perfect solution for live capture of the latest news. The recent installation of the Quicklink Skype TX designed in collaboration with Microsoft will now give KTN access to any Skype device with video capability. I look forward to seeing some very attractive live interviews."
