Nagra to protect Echostar's premium 4K services
The unification of decryption and decoding on a single piece of silicon produced by Nagra opens new barriers in content protection.
The Anycast Command platform Nagra will assure EchoStar of the integrity of its 4K content. Building on new technology developed in close collaboration with EchoStar, Anycast Command, part of Nagra's Anycast security services platform, aims to change the paradigm of content security by concentrating decryption on a single device.
Mark Jackson, president of EchoStar, said: “Serving one of the largest pay-TV providers in the world, we are constantly pushing the boundaries with Nagra to provide content security.”
Since the birth of digital television in the 1990s it has worked in conjunction with a conditional access provider's smart card and a chipset in the set-top box. “This separation of key security elements has led in recent years to new forms of piracy, such as control word sharing, which have had a negative impact on pay-TV service providers,” Jackson said.
Ahora, la unificación del desencriptado y la decodificación en una única pieza de silicio producida Nagra, no sólo aumenta significativamente la seguridad del sistema, sino que también simplificará la integración mediante la reducción de pruebas de caja y la certificación.
