Eventec makes the most of Yamaha digital consoles at the Dutch Aalsmeer Studios
From a talent show to choose the participants in Eurovision Junior to a curious entertainment format around a dinner, Yamaha consoles are the option chosen by Eventec for their versatility and reliability.
Aalsmeer Studios is a television production complex of more than 65,000 m² located southwest of Amsterdam that houses more than 30 companies in the sector. One of them is the rental company Eventec whose portfolio of digital mixing tables Yamaha They have become the audio backbone of numerous programs and events that occur at this complex.
Located near Schipol Airport, Aalsmeer Studios is probably best known for being the place where Joop van den Ende and John de Mol merged their respective companies in 1994 to create Endemol, one of the most recognized global brands in television production worldwide.
Endemol moved to a new location in 2010, and since then the studio and office complex in Aalsmeer has become home to numerous companies in the sector, a dance studio, a local radio station, several cinemas, restaurants and companies related to Schiphol Airport. With ten large studios, the complex maintains strong activity in terms of television production.
Eventec was founded by Wijnand Mol in 2007 and since then Yamaha digital consoles, including the TF CL series and the 01V96, are in constant use.
Wijnand assures that “the main reasons why we chose Yamaha consoles is because they offer great sound, are easy to use, reliable, robust, economical and excellent for broadcast applications.”
Junior Eurovision Trail
Eventec regularly works with Dutch production company United, offering CL3 consoles and R-Series I/O units for the production of the semi-finals and final of the Dutch Junior Song Festival in 2015. Produced by broadcaster Avrotros and presented by singer Jan Smit, it is a talent show that selects the participants in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria, in November.
In the hands of engineer Niek Beemsterboer, the CL3 is used to mix live sound for studio audiences and the production team. “Despite its small size, the CL3 has excellent features,” says Niek, who uses Dan Dugan's automix function to mix presenters, contestants and judges.
"Dan Dugan's automix is really good for live sound. Inserted post-fader into each vocal mic channel, the system behaves as if it were just an open mic. This frees up my head and gives me confidence, without feedback. It sounds great," he says.
Brooklyn Nights
In a very different production, Eventec uses a TF1 Yamaha and four 01V96i, in the program Brooklyn Nights, a gastronomic experience that is recorded in the Aalsmeer studios.
Producer Frank Wentink's original idea centers on an exclusive dinner at a studio called The Big Apple, while enjoying themed entertainment. From there they move to a 'piano bar' and the 'Comedy Club' setup, both with appropriate performances.
Wijnand says that "the TF1 is exactly what we need for this type of production with a small and cost-effective footprint. However, it sounds great and offers a lot of possibilities."
