As part of ProLight + Sound 2014, which takes place until March 15 at the Frankfurt Messe, Yamaha is presenting its new QL1 and QL5 digital consoles. Created to offer maximum audio quality with great processing power and the high flexibility of the popular CL series but with a reduced size, the new consoles are designed for smaller scale productions.

The new QL series consists of two models, the QL1 and QL5. The QL1 has 16 inputs and 8 outputs in a 468mm wide chassis, while the QL5 has 32 inputs and 16 outputs, measuring 828.4mm wide. The QL1 has 32 mono and eight stereo channels while the QL5 has 64 mono and 8 stereo.

QL consoles are ideal for small and medium-sized productions, although thanks to Dante networks it is possible to integrate them into larger systems along with Yamaha's R series or CL. Up to eight R Series units can be controlled simultaneously by one QL console, offering up to 256 input sources.

Port to Port technology allows CL series consoles to access the connections of QL consoles, allowing them to be used as external inputs/outputs.

This scheme allows creating audio solutions in a very scalable way. The self-gain compensation that the QL series incorporates as well as the amplified input and output units of the R series allow one or more Ql or CL consoles to share inputs without the levels being altered.

The automixing capability included in the QL series makes these consoles a perfect option for events and broadcast applications.
The addition of effects such as Rupert Neve Portico 5033 EQ and 5043 Compressor, as well as two Mini-YGDAI in expansion slots allow the QL series to add external processing and interface with other networks and audio formats.

Yamaha is also introducing in Frankfurt a QL version of the StageMix iPad remote control app and an online/offline editor for Windows and Mac, QL Editor.
