The Monumental Theater installs two new Yamaha CL5 digital consoles

The CL series consoles can handle surround sound environments, which are essential for the daily work of the Spanish Radio Television Symphony Orchestra.

Madrid's Teatro Monumental, inaugurated in 1923, celebrated half a century last year as the headquarters of the Spanish Radio Television Symphony Orchestra. Coinciding with this milestone, it has just renovated part of its facilities with the installation of two new digital mixing consoles Yamaha CL5.

The RTVE Orchestra, in addition to its usual concerts, uses the Monumental to record most of its productions due to the excellent acoustics and sound reverberation that the venue enjoys.

The Monumental Theater had had two Yamaha PM5D tables for years, but it was now that they decided to install the new CL5 consoles.

Jacinto López, head of the Spanish office of Yamaha Music Europe, assures that "the main reason for replacing the PM5Ds has been because the CL series consoles can handle surround sound environments, which are essential for the daily work of the orchestra. The advantages offered by the Dante network and the ability to make multitrack recordings using a simple Ethernet cable have also been very important elements when making the decision."

Along with four R-series I/O units, the consoles have been supplied by Yamaha partner CSS Audiovisual and installed by engineers from Radio Nacional de España (RNE). Note, on the other hand, that multitrack recordings are made with Dante Virtual Soundcard and Pyramix DAW.

"The surround sound capacity of the CL and QL series has made them very popular solutions throughout the RTVE network. RNE also has them in many other theaters and concert halls where orchestral recordings or live broadcasts are made," concludes López.
