Telestream compra PandaStream y lanza Telestream Cloud

This new SaaS offering builds on the long-standing transcoding experience of Telestream and cloud encoding specialist PandaStream.

Telestream announced this Monday the acquisition of cloud-based encoding provider PandaStream. This transaction will accelerate Telestream's strategy to provide cloud services and complement its on-premise solutions.

As a direct result of this acquisition, Telestream has also announced the launch of Telestream Cloud, a new software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering that builds on Telestream's significant position and long history in transcoding. This new platform makes PandaStream encoding capabilities available now under the Telestream brand while serving as the foundation for future cloud offerings.

PandaStream's powerful encoding at scale and in the cloud, its ease of use and cost efficiency combined with a broad set of Telestream encoding products will allow customers to access a complete suite of advanced encoding services.

Using the PandaStream c architecture, Telestream Cloud offers globally distributed encoding, with a dynamically scalable VOD encoding platform in response to customer requirements. Encoding and file transfer times are optimized from anywhere as Telestream Cloud leverages multiple cloud service providers including Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and Rackspace.

“Telestream can now provide video transcoding anywhere and everywhere, on the desktop, in the server room or in the cloud,” said Shawn Carnahan, chief technology officer at Telestream.
