The Hispasat 4K International Festival delivers its awards

‘Marina’, ‘Modernidad’, ‘Oscilación’, ‘Femme’, and ‘José Alfredo’ are the five award-winning short films, recorded and post-produced in Ultra High Definition.

Last night, the Callao Cinemas in Madrid hosted the closing of the Festival Internacional Hispasat 4K, an initiative by the satellite operator aimed at promoting Ultra High Definition. To participate in this first international festival dedicated to 4K it was necessary to have a piece of no more than 20 minutes recorded and post-produced in Ultra High Definition.

The five short films awarded among the 19 finalists were: Marina, by director Alex Montoya (best short film); Modernity, by Peruvian Roberto Barba (best Ibero-American short film); Oscillation, by Didac Gimeno (best film school short); Femme, by Beatriz Mínguez de Molina (best photography); and Joseph Alfredo, by Eduardo Chapero-Jackson (best sound).

During the delivery ceremony, the CEO of Hispasat, Carlos Espídos, highlighted the good pace at which 4K is taking off with excellent prospects in the immediate future.

"Hispasat, which is always at the forefront of innovation, has promoted the development of Ultra High Definition from the beginning in order to quickly bring these advantages to film and television viewers. That is why it has actively participated in the evolution of technological developments that allow the most efficient use of this new technology. We have also been the first satellite operator to carry out a UHD transmission in Latin America and, since September 2013, we have broadcast our Hispasat 4K channel free-to-air in Europe. made available to the industry to promote the use of this technology. Hispasat 4K has also been available for North and Central America since April 2014, and is planned to be broadcast in Latin America in the future,” Espídos highlighted.
