TVE will develop new productions in 4K

The Board of Directors continues to support fiction and gives the green light to one hundred and thirty new chapters of 'Acacias 38' and one hundred and forty-three of 'Six Sisters'.

The president of the Corporation, José Antonio Sánchez, highlighted in the last meeting of the board of directors of RTVE that, in a context of growing competitiveness, the RTVE group maintained a screen share of 16.7% in 2015, identical to that of 2014, and continued to fulfill its public service mission.

También ha puesto de manifiesto el liderazgo en materia deportiva asegurando que “del top 30 de emisiones más vistas del año, 8 han sido retransmisiones de fútbol de La 1”. También ha resaltado el éxito de espacios de entretenimiento como En la tuya o en la mía, MasterChef, MasterChef Junior o Eurovision. En relación con el cine, Sánchez ha señalado que, “en 2015, TVE emitió la cifra más alta de cine español de los últimos 15 años, con 520 títulos”.

As regards news services, the president of RTVE recalled that the first edition of Telediario was the leader for the 8th consecutive year and that TVE's news programs closed 2015 with 1,871,000 viewers and a 13.5% share.

Regarding the RTVE website, Sánchez has reported the consolidation of unique user traffic, with a year-on-year increase between December 2014 and December 2015 of 12.3%.

Weekly magazine for TVE Internacional

The president of the Corporation has announced that in 2016 the first specific product destined for TVE Internacional will be launched: a weekly magazine that will link Spanish news with that of all of America.

In the content area, José Antonio Sánchez has advanced the development of new products in 4K quality, as well as the intention of enabling a specific budget for productions intended for all digital media, with the aim of reaching new audiences.

Budgets

In the absence of definitive data on income, which will not be known until March, President Sánchez has reported compliance with the expenditure budget established for 2015 and has stated that, thanks to the approval of the general budgets for 2016, RTVE will be able to finish the year with balance in its accounts.

Sánchez explained that this circumstance, which will occur for the first time since 2007, is also due to the fact that "we have achieved the possibility of deducting VAT since the beginning of 2015", a measure that "will provide RTVE with additional room for maneuver in 2016 close to 85 million euros."

Regarding the Efficiency and Sustainability Plan, the President of the Corporation has stated that "in 2015 indirect cost savings of 15 million euros have been achieved, which represents an execution of 121.7% compared to the initial forecast", and that in the Commercial area, for its part, "the maximum billing has been achieved in the present stage without advertising", going from the 18.2 million euros billed in 2010 to almost 49.6 million of 2015.

RTVE will meet with the LNFP

Regarding the CNMC's decision regarding the summaries of football matches contracted by RTVE and the National Professional Football League, Sánchez has informed the councilors of the meeting that the Corporation has requested the Professional Football League in order to make them see the need to "guarantee RTVE the exercise of the rights transferred in the contract of July 30, 2015 under the conditions that gave rise to its subscription or, otherwise, provide for the corresponding compensation.” The president has explained that the resolution “harms” the interests of the Corporation, since it affects the legal and economic bases of the contract signed with the League last July.

The Board of Directors of RTVE has given the green light to the broadcasting rights of the first two seasons of the series Laura's mysteries, one hundred and thirty chapters of Acacias 38 and one hundred and forty-three of six sisters.
