It has started an eagle training program so that they are able to capture the most popular drone models considering the weak points of each device.

Drone caught by an eagle

The rise in the use of drones in cities, mainly to capture aerial shots by production companies and fans, is on its way to becoming a security problem.

The Dutch police have taken action on the matter in a very peculiar way: using predators to capture these flying gadgets that violate Dutch legislation.

Using one of the oldest arts, falconry, the police will catch those devices that fly over unauthorized areas.

To this end, the police are training eagles to be able to capture the most popular drone models, considering the weak points of each device in order to prevent the propellers from harming the birds.

Although humans can barely see the rotors as a flash, police are convinced that raptors can spot them perfectly in motion.

The Dutch police in a press release have called this initiative “a low-tech solution to a high-tech problem.”
