Antón Laguna's art in 'Palm trees in the snow' earns him a Goya
The fourth time is the charm, in this case, since Laguna manages to win the statuette after having been nominated with 'The Child', 'There Will Be No Peace for the Wicked' and 'Cell 211'.
After four Goya nominations in the artistic direction category, for films such as El Niño, There will be no peace for the wicked or Cell 211, the Goya to Palm trees in the snow For Antón Laguna, it represents recognition of a work that has been “one of the greatest challenges of my career, one of the biggest and most complicated films, and of which I can feel most proud.”
The art director Antón Laguna has acknowledged to Panorama Audiovisual the complexity of the artistic project of the film directed by Fernando González Molina: “the result is there, it is a fantastic film on all levels, and of course undertaking the artistic direction of this project was a great challenge”
Laguna emphasizes that the film involved "tremendous work that took a lot of time to plan, design and carry out. But, finally we can feel proud."
Working with González Molina "was wonderful since he is one of the directors with whom I feel most comfortable, he is as passionate as I am, we share the same dreams for making films. He is a fantastic traveling companion," he acknowledges. In fact, they share a new project: The guardian of the future.
Echoing the comments about Atresmedia's multimillion-dollar production, he states that "we did not have, as they say, the largest budget for artistic production in the history of Spanish cinema, we were fine, we had a good budget but, above all, we knew how to optimize resources, because we do the best we know how with what we have."
