Microsoft will stop supporting Skype on smart TVs
Users have changed their habits of using the service and the majority have opted for mobile devices in front of the television in the living room.
Microsoft has announced that it will stop supporting Skype on smart TV platforms starting in June 2016. The company suggests that the service is not used as much as in the past on these devices as most users prefer to use Skype on smartphones, tablets or PCs.
Since 2010, Skype has been offering free video conferencing in collaboration with several television manufacturers. But over the years, users have changed their habits of using the service and the majority have opted for mobile devices in front of the television in the living room.
Starting in June 2016, Microsoft will no longer update the application, making it impossible to create new accounts and reset passwords from a smart TV.
