The Board of the Information Technology Sector Area of AMETIC (Association of Electronics, Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Digital Content Companies) has elected Antonio de Lucas (Tecnocom) as new president and Alejandro Alonso (Hewlett Packard Enterprise) and Gabriel López (Microsoft) as vice presidents.

The elected officials have highlighted among their proposals for action, emphasizing the importance of IT and its relevant role for digital transformation and the digital economy, as well as any of its key processes and technologies (mobility, cloud computing, big data, security,...); as well as positioning the Information Technology sector as a benchmark for the Spanish economy. Promoting IT as a facilitator of sustainable growth models and increased competitiveness in Spain and promoting a healthy and fruitful sector that prevents the flight of talent to other surrounding countries are also among its purposes.

The Information Technology Sector Area brings together a large number of companies associated with AMETIC and has in its structure four Commissions (Software; IT Services and Consulting; Cloud Computing; and Technological Equipment Solutions) where the specific needs and proposals of the corresponding business groups are dealt with in depth.

This Area ensures that "thanks to IT, new business models are opening up that are transforming the world and companies. Understanding that we must incorporate Information Technologies and value what they contribute to society is key to a growth model." And it is added, "our country has an opportunity to consolidate our image as a provider of quality IT services, including nearshore services, thus strengthening a strategic sector that is very demanding of stable and highly qualified employment."

The Information Technology Sector Area aims to represent the entire Spanish IT community in the international context through its participation in IT associations around the world, especially in Latin America, of which AMETIC is an active member of their respective steering committees.
