Trevor Jones, David Shire, Tyler Bates and José Nieto, among the guests at the second edition of MOSMA
The Malaga City Council and the Malaga Festival promote the audiovisual music festival at FITUR, which will take place from July 5 to 9.
From July 5 to 9, 2017, Málaga will once again become the epicenter of international film music with the second edition of MOSMA (Movie Score Málaga), an event organized by the Málaga Festival, whose programming was presented today at the Málaga stand at FITUR Francisco de la Torre, mayor of Málaga; Juan Antonio Vigar, director of MOSMA and David Doncel, content coordinator; together with the prestigious film music composer Frank Ilfman and José María Benítez, producer of the record company specializing in soundtracks Quartet Records.
After the success of the first edition, which brought together more than 6,000 people, MOSMA wants to once again become an international meeting point for already established composers and young talents with fans of audiovisual music in its broadest dimension, since film soundtracks are added to those from television, series or video games.
If names such as Craig Armstrong, Jan A. P. Kazcmarek, Roque Baños, Sean Callery and Kenji Kawai, among others, were present in the first edition, in 2017 MOSMA will once again have top-class national and international guests, among whom we will have Trevor Jones, David Shire, Tyler Bates, José Nieto, Mac Qualey, Neal Acree, Víctor Reyes and Rupert Gregson-Williams, with some other names to be confirmed.
This event - which will once again have the Cervantes and Echegaray Theaters as its main venues, to which the Albéniz cinema or the Reciento Eduardo Ocón will be added - has as its main objective to promote soundtracks among new audiences and satisfy the interest of lovers of this genre. In its second edition, it is consolidated as a project dedicated to music in all its aspects, since in addition to programming concerts it will once again be a meeting space for professionals and amateurs.
Parallel activities
These activities will be joined by others of a training nature to promote relationships between the different sectors of film and music. In this way we will invite you to investigate the relationships and strategies of the creative process of a soundtrack and the binomial formed by the film director and the composer.
As for the awards, the presentation of our MOSMA Awards in its different categories will once again be joined by the Jerry Goldsmith Awards for the best new composers with the collaboration of the BsoSpirit Association.
The opening concert of MOSMA, on July 5 at the Teatro Cervantes, will be dedicated to the Great box office hits: Blockbusters in film music and will be performed by the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted once again by Arturo Díez Boscovich. In it we will take a tour of the greatest hits of the music of Tyler Bates, John Williams, Geoff Zanelli, Rupert Gregson-Williams and Arturo Díez Boscovich.
