Mediapro will provide the Portuguese Football Federation with VAR (Video Assistant Referee) technology

The group is recognized by FIFA to provide this service in both national and international competitions.

Mediapro has been selected by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) as the official provider of VAR (Video Assistant Referee) technology for the next five seasons, supplying technical equipment and professionals to ensure the service in all stadiums in Portugal.

The audiovisual group has completed the FIFA/IFAB approval processes to provide video refereeing services in both international and national competitions and is a VAR provider for FIBA ​​in its competitions, such as the last Eurobasket Women 2017. Mediapro will invest approximately one million euros in the VAR facilities in Portugal. The VAR or video assistant referee system is increasingly used to help referees determine if there are infractions or questionable plays.

The centralized model for this project includes the construction of a VAR Center at its Portuguese Federation headquarters in Lisbon's Cidade do Futebol. The signal from the cameras installed in all the Portuguese club stadiums will be sent to there. Mediapro will provide the teams of professionals and the necessary technical equipment to, using instant smart replay technology, instantly analyze doubtful or conflictive plays, as well as the mobile units located in the stadiums. The design and construction of the technical infrastructure at the VAR Center has also been the responsibility of the Group's engineering division.

With this project, Mediapro consolidates itself as one of the most prominent providers in the VAR technology market, offering a turnkey solution for its clients, which it incorporates into the scope of solutions to meet the IFAB / FIFA VAR protocol requirements and which includes human resources, technology and television production, when necessary. MEDIAPRO is also a VAR provider for FIBA ​​international competitions. It has recently provided this service at Eurobasket Women 2017 and will also provide this service again at the next Eurobasket 2017.
