The Television Academy announces the professionals and programs finalists for the 2017 Iris Awards
Academics will be able to vote for the winners until September 22 and their decision will be announced during the awards ceremony at the end of October.
The Awards Commission of the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts has today announced the finalist professionals and programs for the 2017 Iris Awards that will be voted on, secretly and before a notary, in the coming days among academics.
Academics will be able to vote for the winners until next September 22 and their decision will be announced during the awards ceremony, expectedly at the end of October.
A year ago, the Board of Directors of the Academy fulfilled its electoral commitment to reform the regulations of the Iris Awards, after almost two decades of its birth, to adapt them to the reality of television in Spain.
In addition to the free submission of candidatures that already came into effect in the last edition, the Academy increased the plurality of the awards. Along with the categories that the Academics vote before a notary, the reform established that a jury of recognized professionals and Talent Awards will be in charge of choosing the Iris Jury Awards among the different professions and professional areas of television. This year, a committee of television critics and commentators will also award the most valued professionals and programs of the season with the Iris Critics' Award.
The Academy Council, made up of representatives of the Board of Directors, television networks and rights management entities, will be in charge of choosing the Iris Autonomous Awards in the coming weeks. It will also be the Council of the Institution that grants, as every year, the 2017 Lifetime Award, in recognition of a professional career linked to the television medium.
