Hispasat begins to provide telecommunications services from 74º Oeste

The operator moves its Amazonas 4 satellite to this new orbital position, which from this moment on will be called Hispasat 74W-1. From 74º Oeste the company will be able to offer new services to Brazil and other South American countries.

The Amazonas 4 satellite Hispasat has completed the move to its new orbital position at 74º West from its original position at 61º West. In this way, the satellite, launched on April 22, 2014, will be the first in the fleet to provide telecommunications services from this position, whose exploitation rights in Ku band were obtained in 2015 by Hispamar Satellites, the Brazilian subsidiary of Hispasat. In accordance with the company's satellite nomenclature system, Amazonas 4 will now be called Hispasat 74W-1 (H74W-1).

The process of moving the satellite from 61º West began on November 29 and concluded yesterday. Once the pertinent controls are carried out to verify the correct functioning of the Hispasat 74W-1 after its displacement, the satellite will begin its commercial operations from this new location. Hispasat, which has already turned 61º Oeste into a reference position in the satellite audiovisual market in Latin America, now expands with 74º Oeste the flexibility of its offer in the region and will offer from there new services over Brazil, as well as the rest of the countries in South America.
