24i acquires Vigour to accelerate its growth in multi-screen OTT solutions
The combination will enable the creation of an integrated set of flexible products to create custom, cross-screen Internet TV applications.
24i Media, a Dutch developer of apps for major media companies of the world, has announced the acquisition of Vigour, a platform provider video multipantalla.
The acquisition will further enhance 24i's global leadership position and accelerate its innovation and growth, with its technology platform at the center of its objectives.
For Vigour, the acquisition provides the opportunity to expand the reach of its unique multi-screen vision across a much larger network, within an environment that provides optimal operating conditions for the execution of a shared vision.
Martijn Van Horssen, CEO of 24i Media, commented: "Reaching consumers regardless of the devices they use is crucial to securing their business in the long term. The more devices they use, the more hours of content they consume and the more value they get from their subscription. In pursuit of these objectives, the rate of innovation has accelerated considerably in recent years. Our acquisition of Vigour strengthens our ability to lead this innovation curve and provide attractive, cutting-edge applications that allow our customers to deliver experiences immersive for its subscribers on any device.”
24i's module-based technology framework enables broadcasters, operators and media companies to create and launch customized streaming services across all screens, tailored to their needs. “Our platform is like a giant Lego box, where customers can build their own applications with our cutting-edge components, or they can purchase a complete package,” Martijn said.
Ramon Duivenvoorden, CEO of Vigor Duivenvoorden, highlights that "at Vigour we have always worked from vision and content. We are greatly driven by innovation to push the limits in the way we manage technology and media in our daily lives. The acquisition of 24i offers us the opportunity to pursue this shared vision together with much more power, resources and reach."
The acquisition will result in a unique combination of Vigour's engineering, design and innovation expertise with 24i's industry knowledge, platform and full range of solutions and technology. The combination will enable the creation of an integrated set of flexible products to create custom, cross-screen Internet TV applications, enhanced 24i positioning to help companies rapidly develop OTT business models and capture new revenue streams in a rapidly growing market.
Along with recently acquired Vigour, 24i will showcase its suite of TV apps on NAB 2018 (SU9301CM) from April 9 to 12.
