Ross Video follows the hybrid track between IP and SDI

The manufacturer announces at NAB 2018 a series of solutions for both the 12GSDI and IP worlds. Among the new features, the Carbonite Black Solo 13 all-in-one mixer and the Ultrix IP compact routing system stand out.

David Ross, CEO of Ross Video, revealed at the company's press conference at NAB 2018 some of the new features for the production segment in both IP and SDI.

After revealing that the company has achieved continued positive growth over the past 26 years, Ross announced the new Carbonite Black Solo 13 all-in-one mixer, a production unit with 13 inputs and 6 outputs in the same format as the other members of the family. Another highlight of the Gator line, a series of software-defined signal processing products including frame synchronizer with multi-channel, branding and keying, operating at speeds of 270 MB/s and 12G/s.

Also worth noting is the new version of Acuity that now offers Flip 3D DVEs, WCG HDR 2020 conversion on input and output cards and various additions in terms of custom controls requested by users.

In the Open Gear family, the novelty was the result of the new OGX, a software-defined system that offers UHD in 12G SDI and IP now with 53% more capacity and greater cooling power. The system also has luminous LEDs on the chassis that can be programmed to serve as a warning to operators, such as signaling a signal drop in red.

Concluding the presentation, David Ross briefly pointed out a prototype that the company is currently working on. "Today it is as if the matrices of the IP world take us back to the time when SDI matrices did nothing more than route signals. It is time for smart IP routers designed for broadcasting," the executive explained.

Following this line, Ross presented Ultrix IP, a compact routing system, in line with the traditional Ultrix SDI, but that adds functionalities such as Sync Frame, SDI-IP Bridge or conversion. The product is still in development, with its launch planned for IBC.
