The series, which will be filmed entirely in natural and urban locations in the province of Soria, humorously addresses the adaptation of a group of urbanites to the harsh Castilian countryside environment after settling in a semi-abandoned town.

The town

Telecinco y Collusion have begun recording a project backed by the extensive experience in the genre of its creators, creators of comedy The one that is coming.

Created by Alberto Caballero, Julián Sastre and Nando Abad and with the support of Daniel Deorador and Araceli Álvarez de Sotomayor in the scripts, The town tells the story of a group of urbanites who decide to settle in a semi-abandoned village in Castilla with the dream of enjoying a higher quality of life in a small town and with a less crazy pace than that of the city. However, their adaptation to the environment and their relationships with their new neighbors will not always be easy, circumstances that will weave a fun story of 'fish out of water' and will reveal the singularities and contradictions between the urban world and the rural world.

Alberto Caballero explains that the original idea for the series arose "because mine is a stressed generation with escapist fantasies, with a typical phrase that is quite a running gag: 'One day I'll send everything to hell and I'll go live on the beach or in the countryside'" and adds that the starting point of the plots arises from the formulation of a question: "If you really made that change in your life, what would it mean?"

The series is also "our first collaboration project with a group of very experienced comedy scriptwriters, such as Julián Sastre and Nando Abad. Creatively it is being interesting and it is also fun to be living in the same 'set' where you do the series. A special atmosphere is created."

Santi Millán ('Chiringuito de Pepe'), Carlos Areces ('Balada triste de trumpeta'), Ingrid Rubio (Goya Award for Best New Actress for 'Más Beyond the Garden' in 1997) and María Hervás ('Gym Tony') head the artistic team of this new fiction, which also includes the participation of Norma Ruiz ('Yo soy Bea'), Raúl Fernández ('Veranocold'), Daniel Pérez Prada ('Carlos, King Emperor'), Ruth Díaz (Goya nominee for Best New Actress for 'Tarde para la ira' in 2017), Elisa Drabben ('Los Totenwackers'), Felipe Vélez (Goya nominee for Best Supporting Actor for 'A Cambio de Nada' in 2016), Jairo Sánchez ('Bounty Hunters'), Blanca Rodríguez ('Four Seasons in Havana'), Ángel Jodrá ('Tell me how it happened'), Vicente Gil ('Punta Escarlata'), Empar Ferrer ('Amar es para siempre'), Javier Losán ('Without tits there is no paradise') and Jordi Vilches (Goya nominee for Best New Actor for 'Krámpack' in 2000).

Alberto and Laura Caballero and Roberto Monge ('Aída') are directing this existentialist comedy, which will be filmed entirely in natural and urban settings in the province of Soria. "The biggest advantage of filming all in natural settings is realism. There is not a single shot on set and I don't think there is," explains Alberto Caballero. “Soria meets all the requirements for the recording of ‘El pueblo’: aesthetics, small population and the wonderful predisposition of its people.”

He also considers that this movement back to the towns "is a cry for help from the people, since this urban life - stressful, noisy, uncomfortable and overcrowded - does not suit anyone."

Urbanity

Personal dissatisfaction, the economic crisis and the search for inspiration and tranquility are some of the reasons that lead a diverse group of urbanites to leave the city to take up residence in Peñafría, a town in Soria threatened by depopulation that offers all kinds of facilities to newcomers. There they will have to start living together as a community, adapt to very different customs and forge a new life.

Acclimatization to the style of this new rural environment will not be easy for the outsiders, since they will have to face multiple difficulties in agricultural and livestock matters, as well as rivalries, hatred, friendships and unexpected loves.

The new neighbors who will arrive in Peñafría will be Moncho (Santi Millán), Ruth (Ingrid Rubio), Pablo (Raúl Fernández), Nacho (Daniel Pérez Prada), Isa (Norma Ruiz),
Laura (Ruth Díaz), Macarena (Elisa Drabben), Juanjo (Carlos Areces), Amaya (María Hervás), Elisa (Blanca Rodríguez), Gustavo (Jairo Sánchez), Echegui (Felipe Vélez) and Chicho (Jordi Vilches).
