Swiss public television RTS selects VSNExplorer as its global MAM solution

Radio Télévision Suisse, the main public radio and TV channel in the French-speaking territory of Switzerland, has selected VSN's media and business process management platform.

Swiss Radio Television (RTS), the public radio and TV channel based in Geneva and Lausanne that broadcasts in the French-speaking Swiss territory, has selected the media management and business processes VSNExplorer of VSN to consolidate the architecture of its global production systems and install a global media management system (MAM) for its four radio stations, its two television channels and several interactive platforms.

RTS selected VSNExplorer, including the production management modules (Production Asset Management, PAM) and media management (Media Asset Management, MAM), as well as their web video editor, Wedit, after a process that has lasted two years. During this period, VSN has worked with RTS on a proof-of-concept (PoC) process to determine the specific functions that RTS would require from a MAM system.

Gérard Saudan, Project Manager at RTS, acknowledges that "we were looking for a centralized and 100% web solution to manage all types of media, both for broadcast and broadband services. For us it was important to have an open and scalable solution that could be easily installed and integrated into the RTS production environment. VSNExplorer will allow us to manage a large group of internal users and will help them manage their media files in an intuitive and collaborative way. An important requirement for RTS was the proposal of a solution with a single interface, easy to use for different types of users. The system also had to be scalable and expandable to allow more simultaneous accesses and/or extra functions in the future. Additionally, VSNExplorer had to be able to integrate and interact with RTS's equipment and solutions, including its storage systems (Isilon, ISIS and LumaForge) and Telestream's Vantage Transcode, Interra Systems' Baton QC solutions, among others.
