The future of video games, under examination at the OVR18 Observatory

The video game sector moved more than 1,359 million euros in 2017, 17% more than in 2016, representing one of the main leisure bets for Spaniards.

He future of video games, which in Spain moved more than 1,359 million euros in 2017, will be thoroughly examined by the experts of the OVR18 Observatory which will be held on July 18 and 19 at the Digital Content Center in Malaga.

Jose Maria Moreno, general director of the Asociación Española de Videojuegos (AGE), compartirá el 18 de julio por primera vez con los expertos del Observatorio las conclusiones del Anuario 2017, que la semana pasada presentó la industria en Madrid ante los medios especializados.

Los 1.359 millones de euros del mercado de los videojuegos en España en 2017 suponen un 17% más que en 2016 y representan una de las principales apuestas de ocio de los españoles, doblando en conjunto al cine (597 millones) y la música grabada (232 millones).

These numbers place Spain as one of the five main consumers of video games at the European level, a figure to be leveled with development, an area in which Spain is the eighth European country.

The stage where José María Moreno is going to present these numbers is the Malaga Digital Content Hub, one of the newest centers in Spain for the development of “indie” video games, so this second edition of the Observatory organized by Medina Media You will surely be surrounded by a particularly motivated environment.

During the Observatory, in addition to the conferences and panels, in the Demo Area attendees will be able to enjoy the video games that were finalists in the first edition of the “Indies” National Video Game Contest, to which 99 companies from all over Spain participated.
