Acuerdo FITUR - Spain Film Commission

The general director of IFEMA, Eduardo López-Puertas, and the president of Spain Film Commission, Carlos Rosado, have signed a collaboration agreement to promote the section FiTur who/Screen Toruism.

The growing interest on the general public to visit the places where films and especially large audience series have been filmed, opens an important opportunity, through the film industry, to promote destinations and promote visits to these places. A phenomenon that grows throughout the world and that represents an important alternative to diversify the tourist offer and combat seasonality.

In this context, Fitur offers an important platform to connect the tourism and cinematographic industry, which has materialized in the creation of the new Fitur Cine/Screen Tourism section, in collaboration with Spain Film Commission (SFC), and which will be released within the framework of FITUR 2019, from January 23 to 27, at the Fair of Madrid.

For IFEMA, according to its general director, “the presentation of this new monographic space means a step forward in that permanent commitment to integrate vertical sectors that represent employment, business and growth for the tourism industry. This study reveals that the number of travelers traveling to a destination after watching it in a movie or series has multiplied by two in the last 5 years.
