Tres nuevos servidores de producción en vivo XT4K de EVS instalados en una de las salas de control del estadio AT&T en Dallas permiten reproducir en pantallas gigantes las mejores jugadas de los Cowboys en HD y 4K UHD.

Dallas Cowboys

He estadio AT&T de los Dallas Cowboys has installed three new servers live production XT4K de EVS. Installed in one of the stadium's three control rooms, these servers will be used to show the one hundred thousand spectators in the stadium the replays of the Cowboys' best plays in HD and 4K UHD.

Two XT4Ks will be used for the production and output of HD replays within the stadium, while the third will be configured in UHD 4K. This server will be used by the Cowboys production team to create higher resolution replays that are upscaled using the app. Epsio Zoom, EVS' Emmy Award-winning. Operators using the server's LSM controller zoom in on the replay to produce deeper, closer angles of the action inside the stadium.

Dwin Towell, director of audiovisual engineering for the Dallas Cowboys, assures that "whether to deliver a controversial play or to give fans a better view of what is happening on the line of play, using Epsio Zoom to make the most of higher resolution content provides a higher level of engagement in the stadium. For HD replays, we also use inverted camera angles that correspond to each side of the stadium screen. We do this because if a fan is sitting on one side of the stadium, it is very shocking to see repetitions where the player's movements go in the opposite direction.

This production approach requires a mirror angle for each camera placed by the production team. Replays are created from 12 live cameras from on-site mobile production units or from 14 cameras in the stadium (four of which are UHD-4K) and play on both sides of the stadium screen, a Guinness World Record for the world's largest high definition video screen.

XT4K, successors to the XT2+

The XT4K servers have replaced the existing EVS While the servers record the action, the control room's updated IPDirector production asset management system will be used to manage media throughout the live workflow. The team also features an LSM Connect app, which is used to create playlists of game highlights on the fly for broadcast.

"We've always worked with EVS, so when it came time to upgrade our facilities, we knew it would be easy to transition to new solutions and that those systems would quickly improve functionality within the control room. Using EVS equipment means we always have access to a pool of EVS operators and we know the technology will continue to work hard, all the time. At the end of the day, we're always looking for the best equipment at the Cowboys facility. And that's why we went with EVS," adds Dwin.
