Atresmedia Television in collaboration with Good Mood y Globomedia, is currently in pre-production phase of the series The Fence. Starting from an idea by Daniel Éciija, Atresmedia's new original series will feature Ángela Molina and Olivia Molina as protagonists.

The series is set in the near future, in Spain in 2045. The increasing scarcity of natural resources has turned Western democracies into dictatorial regimes that justify the lack of freedoms with the promise of ensuring the survival of citizens. In Spain, along the same lines, a dictatorial government occupies power.

As life in rural areas becomes increasingly impossible, the capital has been divided into two tightly closed regions: Sector 1 (that of the government and the privileged) and Sector 2 (the rest). The only way to go from one area to another is to cross the fence that separates them, for which it will be an essential requirement to have the regulatory pass.

This is the starting point of a story that will take us to know Julia, Hugo, Emilia... a family that fights to recover little Marta, in the hands of the government. A story of survival, betrayal, great secrets and in which a crime will haunt its protagonists.

“It is the story of the members of a family who will arrive in a new Madrid to find a job, a future and will end up having the opportunity to change the destiny of their country,” explains Daniel Écija, creator of the series and executive producer of Good Mood, which he rates The Fence as “a series in which the production value will be very demanding.”

Sonia Martínez, director of Fiction at Atresmedia, points out that “despite being set in the future, in The Fence We will find elements that we could recognize in today's society: social classes, abuses of power, political corruption, betrayals, injustices, loyalties, love..."

He considers that it is "a story with really powerful plots and in which the relationships between the characters are very human, for better and for worse. In extreme situations, we will see that the best and the worst can emerge in people."

Daniel Écija, Inés París, David Molina and Sonia Martínez are the executive producers of The Fence; a series that has a great technical team, with names, among others, such as: Pilar Revuelta (Pan's Labyrinth y Impossible), in production design; Sonia Grande (Juliet, To Rome with love) in costume design; and Nestor Calvo (I'm alive) in the direction of photography.
