Coinciding with NAMM 2019, Sennheiser has presented his new XS series of wireless microphonesto. The XSW-D series replaces cables with compact, elegant transmitters and receivers that operate in the 2.4 GHz band which can be used without a license worldwide.

The transmitters and receivers can be freely combined, so the user can choose between a wireless product that allows him to continue using his own microphone or one of the complete wireless microphone sets.

Ease of use

XSW-D series products use digital transmission in the 2.4 GHz band and aptX Live encoding. The receivers feature antenna diversity and the transmitters operate redundantly by transmitting all data packets twice to ensure reliable transmissions. In the event of interference, the transmitter and receiver switch seamlessly to a free frequency. The Audio latency remains below 4 ms.

It is noteworthy that up to 5 systems can be used simultaneously, each with a range of up to 75 m. The transmitter and receiver can be conveniently recharged via USB using the supplied charging cable and have a runtime of up to 5 hours on a single battery charge.

He operation has been simplified to the maximum, since it is limited to a single button: simply press the button on the transmitter and receiver at the same time to turn them on and sync them automatically, click a button to silence them, and hold both buttons to turn them off.

The transmitter connects to a handheld microphone, lavalier microphone, or instrument, while the receiver can connect directly to a mixing console, guitar or bass amp, or the mic input of a video camera, respectively.

Users will be able to choose between a set with a XS 1 cardioid dynamic microphone or a lavalier for presenter that includes a ME 2-II lapel microphone, or a basic set for instruments with a 6.3 mm jack output. You can also choose the XLR Starter Set to use with your current dynamic microphone or the Presenter Starter Set that you can use with a lavalier microphone with 3.5mm minijack. Starting in summer 2019, the series will be expanded with a pedalboard set for guitarists and bassists. All transmitters and receivers can also be purchased separately.

Simple audio in video recording

XSW-D products record audio directly to the video camera via the mic input. The receiver attaches to the camera via the XSW-D hot shoe adapter and a coiled cable with 3.5mm jack, while the transmitter connects to a handheld microphone or lavalier microphone depending on context or preference.

Camcorder operators and content creators can choose between a portable Lavalier set with ME 2-II lapel microphone, a portable interview set that can be used with its own dynamic microphone, a basic portable set that can be used with its own lavalier microphone, and the portable ENG set that contains transmitters for a lavalier microphone (ME 2-II included) and its own handheld dynamic microphone.
