'Súper López': first Goya for a special effects team with a woman in charge
Laura Pedro, only 28 years old, is one of the few women working in special effects teams in Spain and the first to win a Goya, in this case together with Lluís Rivera.
He Goya for Best Special Effects It was the only statuette for the film Super Lopez. Those in charge of them were Lluís Rivera and Laura Pedro, which, according to both, had an acceptable budget to address this basic chapter in a production that talks about a superhero.
In any case, as Laura Pedro explains, "given the lack of budget, in the end, solutions are always sought, even for the most complicated things such as the robot or the issue of flights, in which several pieces of equipment interfere and there are cables ahead. Fortunately, Dani Rovira was very patient and willing since he hung up for a long time."
Lluís Rivera speaks of "a new generation of professionals dedicated to the field of special effects that has emerged naturally and draws largely from pioneers such as Reyes Abades or Romanillos. It is not about a regeneration but about professionals who we have learned from them and who they have let us pass."
Both Laura and Lluís are very satisfied with the awards they received, including the Gaudí, as well as the work carried out. The results at the box office are also overwhelming since it is one of the most viewed films of the year with the permission of Campeones.
It should be noted that Laura Pedro, at only 28 years old, is one of the few women working in special effects teams in Spain and the first to win a Goya. She has broken one of those glass ceilings that prevented women from shining.
