TVE awards Telefónica the streaming service for its contents
La duración de la adjudicación será de tres años con una coste anual de dos millones de euros.
La Corporación pública Spanish Radio Television (RTVE) has been awarded to Telefónica el servicio de streaming de su plataforma digital.
La Corporación convocó hace unas semanas un concurso para la contratación de los servicios asociados a la distribución de sus contenidos digitales online para los próximos tres años. Al concurso se presentaron además de Telefónica otras empresas como Vodafone, Retevisión o la Unión Europea de Radiodifusión (UER), decantándose finalmente por la primera opción.
La duración de la adjudicación será de tres años with a annual budget of two million euros.
In addition to the TVE website, Telefónica will be in charge of distributing content on other platforms such as mobile phones, tablets or smart televisions, including the new Loves TV platform under the HbbTv standard.
In its analysis of the proposal, the Corporation's digital development area management justifies its decision by ensuring "Telefónica's experience in the distribution of live content over the Internet, CRTVE's current use of the user service included in the offer, and previous experience with the proposed technological solution, are considered sufficient guarantees to ensure the provision of the service."
In addition to direct streaming content, Telefónica will also distribute videos on demand.
