Chimney Group, one of the largest post-production companies in Europe, standardizes its entire work dynamic to finish projects around the Blackmagic solution.

Chimney Group, one of the largest post-production companies in Europe, has continued to invest in DaVinci Resolve Studio as part of its rapid expansion across regions including the United States, Australia and Southeast Asia.

Founded by the producer Henrik Larsson in 1995, Chimney has built a reputation for offering cutting-edge post-production services in Stockholm. It currently has more than 400 employees in 14 offices located in cities in nine different countries, including Los Angeles, Singapore, Berlin and Sydney.

Chimney Group has standardized its entire work dynamic to complete projects around the Blackmagic program. "We've used different tools, but none of them are comparable to Resolve in terms of speed and efficiency. It's a great solution," says Henric Larsson.

On the other hand, he adds that “we are like a creative factory, and given the increasingly tight deadlines to deliver projects, DaVinci Resolve allows us to achieve a higher efficiency, from the beginning of the digital intermediate to the final product, including shaping and grading. In addition to being compatible with the ACES color space, it provides the ability to deliver files in IMF format and master in high dynamic range, and the editing tools offer interesting options for the future.”

Another reason they started using the program was the ability to easily access talented people for new studios, such as the 6,000-square-foot office the company recently opened in New York. Con eight editing and grading rooms, and another space intended for visual effects, is a modern platform ideal for the post-production company's high-end clients, including Unilever, ESPN and Microsoft.

Chimney Group“Thanks to the program's compatibility with multiple platforms, it is the one commonly used in the industry to complete projects, which makes it easier to hire technical and creative professionals,” says Henric. “In addition, we can use the remote grading function to work with the most talented people within our company and assign them to different tasks according to the needs of our clients.”

Chimney Group is a supporter of the approach taken by Blackmagic Design to make creative tools such as DaVinci Resolve more accessible. "As it is free, more and more people are encouraged to start using it. Otherwise, this would not happen. The closer the brush is to hand, the greater the level of talent our clients will be able to access in the future. In this way, everyone benefits," concludes Henric Larsson.
