Paolo Vasile: “Vivendi makes instrumental use of Justice in Spain”
“The merger of Mediaset in Italy and Spain is essential to have an important role in the world of audiovisual communication,” says the CEO of Mediaset Spain in an interview in the group's new digital newspaper, Niusdiario.
Juan Pedro Valentin, news director of Mediaset España, has interviewed the CEO of the audiovisual group, Paolo Vasile. In Mediaset's new digital newspaper, Newspaper, Vasile approached at merger with Mediaset SPA to create a new audiovisual group (MediaForEurope -MFE-) in which are his first statements after the precautionary suspension of this process issued last Friday at the request of Vivendi.
"We do not agree with this decision and that is why we have appealed to the Provincial Court of Madrid. We will do everything in our power so that this project can be carried out and We trust that Justice understands what this merger means, listen to our reasoning and finally this very necessary operation can be carried out,” says Vasile.
The director attacks Vivendi, ensuring that the group "claims as if it were a small shareholder who is supposedly harmed by the merger. However, it must be said that Vivendi has only been a small shareholder of Mediaset España since July, which is when the boards of directors of Mediaset in Spain and Italy made the merger public. That is, it bought 1% of the shares of Mediaset España only to make instrumental use of Justice in Spain and thus be able to stop the operation."
“Vivendi quiere ganar en España lo que no pudo ganar en Italia”, sentencia. Y añade que “Vivendi ha tenido solo una actitud depredadora y especuladora sin buscar el desarrollo de la actividad industrial”.
